The Cellar Door is open for friendly and informative wine tastings by experienced Curators of the Estate's Aged and Museum Hunter Wines. The Cellar Door is Warm & Cosy in winter and Cool & Comfortable in summer.
Waverley Estate is set on 170 acres situated on high ground with commanding views, within the amphitheatre of the Brokenback Range. The Waverley building has been constructed with materials from heritage damaged buildings as a result of the 1989 Newcastle earthquake. The building is a traditional colonial Australian style homestead; the interior of which transports you back in time. Constructed from huge grey sandstone blocks; some blazed with convict tally markings, the big bold doors and roof trusses came out of one of the old historical Newcastle bond stores (circa 1860). The two 150-year-old church windows that adorn each side of the stone fireplace, proudly display the Maling Coats of Arms that dates back to the Crusades.
